After a successful launch a few weeks ago, The People’s Film Collective are back with news of their second event: a special screening of The Emmy-nominated Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary. Taking place in The Hug & Pint music venue in Glasgow’s West End on Tuesday 19th April, the night will celebrate the Nirvana singer in the month that marks 22 years since his tragic death.

Dubbed the “most intimate rock documentary ever”, this exclusive event sees the team behind Tenement TV Presents: The People’s Film Collective add to their impressive calendar of bespoke events screening cult classic films in unusual spaces.

Kicking off at 7pm, the screening will feature a special performance from WOMPS, a band which encapsulate 90s grunge and will open up the Hug & Pint stage ahead of the documentary screening.

Created with a DIY spirit, the first People’s Film Collective event saw the team behind Tenement TV fuse together music and film in a unique setting showing of Romeo & Juliet in Glasgow’s newest arts venue, Saint Luke’s church. The venue was transformed into one of the film’s most iconic parts, with suspended neon crosses, flowers, candles and fairy lights reminiscent of the film’s closing church scene. Musical acts The Bar Dogs and Barrie-James O’Neill played on the grand stage before the screening of Baz Luhrmann’s cult classic.

The People’s Film Collective said: “We were blown away by the response from our launch event and it was amazing to see so many like-minded people come together for the love of film and music in Glasgow. We want to continue to put on great events and feel this very intimate Montage of Heck screening will do just the trick. We’re a film club with a difference. We aim to celebrate Pop Culture and inspired artistic vision. What’s really important is that we put on events which really capture the spirit of what The People’s Film Collective is all about.”

A very limited amount of tickets are on sale now priced £6.50 including booking fee via Eventbrite.
